At this Hope Valley house, Outside Concepts North East constructed a timber-framed carport. It was positioned to extend space over the existing driveway. The gable roof is cut back into the main roof to minimise the need for extra posts and effectively seals the space between the old and new
structure. Importantly, it secures the carport visually so it’s seen to extend out from the house, an important aesthetic aspect reinforced by using roof tiles that match those on the main house.
Later, the carport was lined with a ceiling and painted. This provides a finished appearance and makes maintenance easier as the ceiling can be easily wiped free of cobwebs and dust. The ceiling lining was installed to follow the rafter line, increasing the internal height of the carport and contributing to the house’s overall visual appeal.
